Following the success of the first Sensory Modernisms conference, we have decided to organise a second, two-day conference to be held in November/December 2015. Further details of 'Sensory Modernisms 2' will be forthcoming; watch this space!
A quick post to say thank you to everyone who attended the conference yesterday; all the papers worked really well together and achieved a remarkable thematic coherence, which suggests that there is a lot more worthwhile research to be carried out in relation to sensory modernism.
We are planning to publish a collection of papers from the conference; details of this will be forthcoming.
We're also keen that the exciting dialogues we established yesterday don't end with the conference; we'd like to foster further collaborations between other modernists working within different institutions to ensure that the debate continues.
Cris and Georgina.
We've now created a schedule for the papers we expect to be delivered on May 21. Please follow this link to view the schedule and book your ticket.
We've reviewed all the abstracts we've received and have created a shortlist of papers which we thought will fit together within the overall theme of the conference.
Sadly, in doing so, we have had to reluctantly reject a number of very fine paper proposals which although excellent, didn't gel with the majority of the other abstracts we received. This is in no way a reflection on the quality of these proposals.
We have contacted everyone who submitted an abstract with the outcome of our decision. We look forward to seeing you all later this month, for what will prove to be a very exciting and stimulating conference!
We're currently drawing together a conference schedule and will get this out asap.
Thanks to everyone who submitted a conference abstract. We're currently reviewing these, and will contact everyone who sent us a paper proposal shortly. Once we have done this, we will publish a schedule of papers for the conference.
